Obsessed with: LaBuda Juice Bar
LaBuda may have opened just the other week, but I'm calling it early. I'm obsessed.
Jasmine Hyde, co-owner and personal trainer, opened LaBuda with the intention of both encouraging people to make healthy choices when it comes to nutrition, and making people feel good in their own skin, both physically and mentally. Inspired by the small, trending organic cafes in Byron Bay and Bali, LaBuda serves honest but healthy, affordable, fresh food and drink.
I caught up with Jasmine to chat all things LaBuda, her inspiration, and her favourite juice.
Can you tell us a little about the LaBuda story, and why a juice bar?
I have always had a love for juices and healthy foods, and when buying my lunch or a healthy, freshly made juice I would have to travel to find a cute little cafe. We had the idea in our head that we always wanted to open our first shop along the Flora Terrace strip as we live locally, so, when we heard that a spot had become available, we knew it was our time to take a leap forward and follow our dream. We wanted the menu to be just simple, healthy takeaway options - juices, smoothies, smoothie bowls, coffee and healthy display foods - and not make it too complicated to start. The fit out was definitely the most difficult and overwhelming process of the whole set up. We always enjoyed visiting Bali’s small, organic cafes and their layouts and vibes and we wanted to make the juice bar as fresh as possible with white interiors and fill it in with dark timbers and colour.
What's your favourite juice / smoothie at the bar, and why?
My favourite juice is by far the Skin Saver, I love the citrus fruits in it. The Clean Green Smoothie is my go to most days, however, if I'm feeling like something sweet, Naughty & Nice is a winner. I also love all the smoothie bowls!
What's your favourite self-care, wellness ritual?
My favourite wellness ritual is definitely exercise. There is no better way to make yourself feel better; whether its going for a casual coastal walk, or having a real hit out in the boxing ring.
What's next?
I haven't looked too far ahead just yet as I really want to market LaBuda and get people talking about it. There is still so much work to do behind the scenes. My long term vision is to get a kitchen out the back, with a chef making and creating more healthy foods for people along the coast to enjoy. Then, who knows...I may even open up LaBuda #2!!
With its light and bright atmosphere, cool vibe, and deliciously healthy menu, it's hard to resist the LaBuda charm. All of the juices, smoothies and salads are made fresh by the team at the Flora Terrace space, with a bounty of nourishing treats on display to fill the gaps.
I picked up a Pink Dragonfruit smoothie and Asian slaw salad to takeaway into the Thursday sunshine last week, and was totally impressed. The smoothie slipped down very nicely indeed, and the salad - full of red cabbage, spring onion and dressing deliciousness - was beyond tasty.
I'll definitely be back! Will I see you there?
